October 21, 1999, Bardahl established a new Malaysian and World records for running a vehicle without oil under real world driving conditions. The No Oil Run was witnessed by the Automobile Association of Malaysia [Mr. Ismail Abu Talib – Technical Officer] and The Malaysian Book of Records [Mr. Rueben Anthony - Writer – Research Executive]. Two 1998 Proton, 1.5 liter GL, manual transmission vehicles were "Bardahlized" [Bardahl 1 Engine Treatment], had their oil drained and were driven at least 1330 kilometers with out engine oil (one vehicle was driven to the press conference without oil at least an additional 20 kilometers).
